South Florida Newborn Session | Baby Jeremy

Typically newborn portraits are captured when the bay is between 7-14 days. There are many reasons why newborn sessions happen so soon after birth. Babies are sleepier, more malleable. Infant acne hasn’t had time to present itself and skin may not be as flakey. Babies are not yet cluster feeding from growth spurts.

When I was contacted by Jeremy’s mom to capture his “newborn” photos he was already 8 weeks old! I explained to Mom that while I will never turn a baby away due to age, we must manage expectations. There is a chance that they baby will not be as sleepy and therefore the session may have more wrapped and/ or awake shots. She agreed and simply wanted to be sure she didn’t miss out on the fleeting moments of infancy.

At the session, Baby J couldn’t have been more cooperative! He slept like a champ and was determined to make me throw all of my preconceived notions out of the window. He loved being in the arms of his family and as you can see… Big Brother loved holding him as well!
